Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information is stored when you use ModelRetirement, how it is used to provide the service, and how it is protected during the alpha release. By using the service, you acknowledge this Policy.
ModelRetirement is designed so that your financial planning data is processed automatically by the application, not by people. Saved plan data stored on our servers is encrypted at rest and is decrypted only temporarily by the application when needed to authenticate your account, load or save your plan, run simulations, restore saved scenarios, or provide other features you choose to use.
1. Information Stored
Information you provide
The application may store:
- Account information, such as your email address, sign in status, password hash if you create a password, and account activity timestamps.
- Financial planning data, including information you choose to enter, such as ages, income, savings balances, account types, retirement assumptions, real estate assumptions, Social Security assumptions, tax related assumptions, and saved planning scenarios. This information is encrypted while stored on our servers.
- Application preferences and saved state, such as theme, walkthrough progress, unlocked features, chart layout, and other interface preferences.
- Feedback you submit, including comments, page or screen context, browser information, IP address, and your authenticated email address when available.
Operational information
The service automatically records limited operational information, including:
- Application usage information, such as pages visited, features used, session duration, browser information, client identifiers, and diagnostic information.
- API performance information, including endpoint path, response status, latency, and related operational metrics.
- Operational AI usage records, such as model name, token counts, estimated usage cost, response status, and performance metrics. AI conversation content is not included in these records.
2. How Information Is Used
Information is used only to operate and improve ModelRetirement, including to:
- authenticate users;
- save and restore retirement plans and scenarios;
- run simulations and optimizers;
- provide AI powered features;
- synchronize application state;
- troubleshoot technical problems;
- monitor reliability, performance, and operating costs;
- improve usability and onboarding;
- respond to feedback;
- maintain security and prevent abuse; and
- comply with applicable legal obligations.
Your financial planning data is used only by the application to provide the functionality you request. It is not used for advertising, marketing, profiling, or sold to third parties.
3. Cookies and Local Storage
ModelRetirement uses session cookies to keep you signed in.
The application may also use browser local storage to remember interface preferences, feature unlocks, comparison views, temporary application state, and other client side information.
Some locally stored information may be transmitted to the server when necessary to run simulations, save your plan, synchronize application state, or provide features you choose to use.
Clearing your browser data may remove locally stored preferences but does not automatically delete information stored on our servers.
4. AI and Email Providers
When you use AI powered features, relevant prompts, selected planning context, and generated responses are transmitted to third party AI providers to generate responses to your requests.
ModelRetirement does not store AI conversation history in its application database. Operational telemetry records only AI usage information such as model name, token counts, estimated usage cost, response status, and performance metrics. AI conversation content is not included in ModelRetirement's operational analytics or developer dashboard.
Third party AI providers may process submitted content according to their own security and privacy practices. Microsoft Azure OpenAI applies abuse and safety monitoring to requests by default. Under Microsoft's default configuration, certain prompts or responses identified through Microsoft's abuse and safety monitoring may be retained within Microsoft's abuse monitoring systems, which are separate from ModelRetirement's database and are governed by Microsoft's policies.
Third party email providers are used to deliver account related emails, including sign in links.
These providers process information only as needed to provide their services and are subject to their own privacy policies.
5. Hosting and Service Providers
ModelRetirement uses third party providers for hosting, storage, authentication, email delivery, AI services, monitoring, logging, and related infrastructure.
These providers may process information on behalf of ModelRetirement solely to operate the service.
ModelRetirement does not sell your personal information.
6. Information Sharing
Information may be shared:
- with service providers that operate portions of the service;
- when required by law or legal process;
- to protect the security, integrity, or rights of the service; or
- with your consent.
Feedback submitted during the alpha program may be used to improve the product.
7. Data Retention
During the alpha program, the service retains account information, encrypted saved retirement plans, encrypted saved scenarios, encrypted application state, operational logs, feedback, and operational AI usage records (such as model name, token counts, estimated usage cost, response status, and performance metrics) for as long as reasonably necessary to operate, evaluate, debug, and improve the service, unless deletion is required by law or requested by you.
Retention practices may change as the product evolves.
8. Security
Reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate for an alpha service are used, including authenticated access controls, session protections, invite only access, encrypted server side storage for saved retirement plan data, and limited production logging.
No system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Financial planning data is processed automatically by the application to authenticate your account, perform calculations, save and restore plans, provide AI features, and deliver the functionality you request. Routine operation of the service does not require manual review of individual financial plans.
9. Your Choices
You may:
- choose what information to enter;
- modify or delete saved retirement plans within the application;
- clear locally stored browser data;
- stop using optional AI features; or
- request deletion of your account and stored plan data by contacting us.
Certain operational logs may be retained when necessary for security, debugging, legal compliance, or aggregated product analysis.
10. Children's Privacy
ModelRetirement is not intended for children under 13, and personal information is not knowingly collected from children under 13.
11. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated as the alpha program evolves. The effective date above indicates when this Policy was last revised. Continued use of the service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
